This Week at Stratton School – June 13th, 2022
It’s the final week of school! Here’s what we’re doing at the school this week:
On Monday June 13th, Grades 5 through 7 will be canoeing the South Branch from 11-2. On Tuesday June 14th, Pre-K through 2nd Grade will be going to Pines Beach from 10-2. Tuesday June 14th will be the 8th Grade Promotion at 7pm. The celebration will take place out front of the school. Wednesday June 15th is the last day of the school year. It’s an Early Release Day and students will be dismissed at 11:30pm.

Field Day – June 8th, 2022
Despite a little rain, Field Day went off without a hitch. Events included pizza box races, wiffleball, parachute, and much more. The biggest hit of the day was tug of war, where the staff handily defeated 7th and 8th Grade!

Sunflower Sale : Planting seeds of hope and peace for Ukraine
The Stratton Garden team will be selling sunflower seedlings and seed packets on Friday June 10th from 2:00-3:00pm in the Stratton School Gazebo.
We are partnering with The Ascentria Care Alliance: Services for New Americans.
All money raised will be going to food assistance for the Ukrainian refugee community in West Springfield, MA.

This Week at Stratton School – June 6th, 2022
Here’s what’s going on around school in our final full week of classes:
Monday June 6th, the Stratton Bobcats Baseball Team will be traveling to Phillips to play in the Championship Game. The game will begin at 4:30pm. Also on June 6th, the Kindergarten will be hosting Portfolio Night from 5:30 to 6:30 to show all their hard work off to their parents. Tuesday, June 7th will be Step-Up Day for the 8th Grade. They will go to Mount Abram to get ready for next year. Also on Tuesday, there will be a school board meeting in the gym at 5pm. Wednesday June 8th is Field Day! June 8th will also be the 1st Grade and 2nd Grade Celebration of Learning.1st Grade will have their celebration of 5:30 to 6:30pm. 2nd Grade will have theirs from 6:00 to 7:00pm. Thursday June 9th will have two field trips:Grades 3 through 5 will go to Dead River Historical Society from 8:15 to 11am. Grades 6-8 will be taking a trip to Foster Tech and Rustic Roots Farm from 8:30 to 4:30pm. On Friday June 10th, Grades 5 through 7 will go to Pines Forrest and Pines Beach.

Sugarloaf Mountain Clean-up Day – May 27th, 2022
Last Friday, the Grades 1 through 8 went up to Sugarloaf to clean up the mountain in an effort to thank them for all they do for our school community.
This Week at Stratton School – May 31st, 2022
We hope everyone had a fun and relaxing Memorial Day weekend. Here’s what’s going on at Stratton School this week:
Tuesday May 31st, the Stratton Bobcats Baseball/Softball Teams will travel to play games against Strong. Games start at 4pm. On Thursday June 2nd, Grades 3-5 will take a field trip to Stratton Brook. Also on June 2nd, the Softball and Baseball teams will travel up to Rangeley. Games will start at 4pm.

2nd Grade Butterflies and Timberland Tuesday
2nd Grade has been making the most of the nice spring weather. They recently released their butterflies to the wild, and also worked on some paper airplanes as part of Timberland Tuesday.

Memorial Day is right around the corner! Let’s take a look at what is going on around school this week:
Tuesday, May 24th, the Stratton Bobcats Baseball/Softball teams will be hosting Kingfield. Games start at 4pm. Wednesday, May 25th is the date of the Third Grade-Eighth Grade Celebration of Learning. The event will take place from 1:30 to 2:30. Friday, May 27th, we will be going to Sugarloaf to do a little cleanup to show our thanks for all they do for our school community.

Maine CDC’s Lyme Disease Poster Contest
With the help of Nurse Trisha and Art teacher Anne Flight, students in grade Pre-K-4 recently participated in the Maine CDC’s Lyme disease poster contest. Samantha Landry in First Grade was selected as the state wide winner for her age group. Addie Knieser in Grade 4 was selected as the honorable mention for this year and was also a winner for her age group last year. The students demonstrate their knowledge of how to prevent Lyme disease through art work. Great job girls!
2nd Grade visits Norlands – May 10th, 2022
As part of their studies on life in the 1800s, Second Grade recently took a trip to Norlands . The kids went to school and baked in the kitchen. They picked rhubarb, fetched water, washed dishes and filled the woodbox.

This Week at Stratton School – May 16th, 2022
Spring NWEA Testing is taking place across the school all week. Let’s look at what else is going on around school:
Tuesday, May 17th the Stratton Bobcats will host Strong. Games start at 4pm. Girls Talk will be meeting after school on Wednesday, from 2:30 to 5:00pm at KC’s in Carrabassett. Foster Tech will visit the middle school on Thursday to talk about them about the Foster Tech program. Thursday, May 19th, Stratton Softball/Baseball will play a game at home against Phillips. 4pm start time.
