Happening This Week:

Monday May 26
- No School- Memorial Day Holiday
Tuesday May 27
- 7th grade canoeing/fishing trip 9:30-1:00
Wednesday May 28
- Spring Celebration 1:00 start- Spring Music Concert, Art Walk, Garden/Orchard tours and information
- Grades 3-8 will have a “Celebration of Learning” following the Spring Celebration
Thursday May 29
- Grades 1-3 field trip to Kingfield Historical Society (rescheduled from 5/23)
Friday May 30
- Sugarloaf Clean Up (grades 1-8)- leave school at 12:50 and return by 2:15. Please dress appropriate to be outside and walking around.
- Softball Game Home vs Valley 4:00

Spring Celebration:

Come join us to celebrate spring and a wonderful year of learning!

PreK-8 music performance starts at 1:00. Stick around after the music performance to check out student art work throughout the halls, garden tours as well as seeing where the trees are going to be planted for the orchard when we return to school after summer break, learn about composting worms, and more.

There will also be some items for sale as a fundraiser for the School Garden Program:

$25 Hanging Baskets (Petunias)
Tomato Seedlings (Roma and Sweeties)
$10 Stratton Bobcat Cookbooks
$15 Calendars- Maine School Garden Network- Stratton School is one of the August page!

The 8th Grade is also hosting an up-cycle water bottle drive and can begin accepting donations during the celebration. See below (8th grade water bottle drive) for more information about this.

ROAR Assembly & Bikes for Books Assembly

Each trimester, teachers have recognized students from their class that exemplify our ROAR expectations.

We will have our Trimester 3 ROAR Assembly, Monday, June 2 starting at 1:30, followed by Bikes for Books Assembly.

The Mount Bigelow Masonic Lodge is sponsoring “Bikes for Books” at Stratton School this spring. Each time a student reads an age appropriate book they fill out a book slip. These slips go into a container in their classrooms. The Masons will be here Monday, June 2 for an assembly at the end of the day to draw a student slip from each class to win a bicycle!

End of the Year and Library Books:

The last day for checking out library books is Friday May 30th.

Overdue notices will be coming home the week of May 27-30 to help locate library books still checked out.

All Library books are due Friday June 6th.

Don’t forget we have some lovely local area libraries to utilize over summer break. Wendy at the Stratton Public Library and Andrea at the CV Public Library would love to see our students visit and check out books during the summer (and always).

8th Grade Water Bottle Drive:

Do you have water bottles just lying around your house? Well, you are in luck! The Stratton School is going to be holding a water bottle drive between May 28 (during the Spring Celebration) until June 12.

We are trying to reduce the amount of disposable cups as we fight microplastics. Next school year, we will make these up-cycled water bottles available for students who do not have their own water bottle from home.

All clean water bottle are appreciated but we would love for them to be metal and in good condition.
