Compost

School Garden

November 18th, 2020

The Stratton School Garden Committee received a grant from the Maine Farm to School Network and Healthy Communities of the Capital Area to start a compost program at the school. This includes a 3 bin outside composting system for kitchen and garden scraps and vermicompost bins – worms – for some of the elementary classrooms.

Today as we received a dusting of flurries, the outside compost bin was completed and moved to its permanent home.

Thank you to everyone who has been involved in this project; staff and students. A big THANK YOU to the middle school students who assisted with the construction and especially to Jim Bellwood for your guidance and expertise.
